[arriscad] translate ri patterns

Ron: I don’t know how to maintain the x-hatch characteristics after translation. We just freeze the x-hatch and then the ri’s into simple entity types before translating.

We create separate layers for different entity types in our ARRIS databases, so all x-hatch is on its own layer by itself (which has other advantages in the event of a corruption with the x-hatch).

Our procedure is very straightforward: copy the x-hatch with ri’s onto a new specific layer, turn off the original x-hatch layer, freeze the copy of the x-hatch back to simple lines and arcs, and then translate out using that new layer, not the original unfrozen x-hatch layer. That way, you get to keep working with the customized x-hatch in ARRIS on your end, and the Acad victim gets at least a copy of what the x-hatch is supposed to look like on their end – even if it’s not in a Block.

Subject: [arriscad] translate ri patterns

Hi. Does anyone have clear instructions to translate a Arris database that has hatch with ri's to Acad ? Whenever I translate any of these, the ri hatch in Arris becomes a block reference in Autocad. I need it to come across as Autocad hatch. I have Autocad 2009, 2014 and 2015 installed on my computer. I am using Translator R7.801 using Default settings. I have read over and over the info in the Translator help files about this but I still have not been successful. For example I have a arris hatch (batt insulation) titled insul1 that uses ri 'ins1' that resides in library ron.ri. Whenever I translate the hatch becomes a Autocad block reference... I can not figure out how to make it become Autocad hatch.
THANK YOU in advance.
Ron
