Thanks to David for the information on using our KIP 6000 to convert PLT
files to PDF.
We have been using this to archive many of our projects, however, today we
ran into a problem.
Scenario: we have a solid fill pattern in our Pen 6 (50% grayscale). It
plotted perfectly in original PLT file. It scans 'pretty good'. However,
when we use the KIP 6000 to convert the file to PDF, the solid fill
grayscale turns solid black, and obscures all of the information that
resides under the pattern.
I note that there is the ability to set a penmap in the KIP 6000, however,
we tried setting our Pen 6 to 50% grayscale, but I believe that this pen map
is only being used when sending plots directly to the printer, not when
doing conversion to PDF file.
Has anyone else had experience with using either this KIP printer conversion
to PDF and success in getting grayscale to properly reproduce?
The alternative is to use the scan to PDF from the original PLT file. Other
alternative would be to find another software that may handle ARRIS solid
fill pattern at 50%.
I have can send a specific example of PLT file for your use, should anyone
like to experiment with their specific procedures/software.

Neal,
We use the Kip 5000 Request software.
Select the drawings as if you want to print them.
Right click on any of the checked drawing files and a new menu pops up.
On the bottom is "Convert tagged to"
Move mouse over this text and various file formats pops up
Select PDF Adobe
Specify where you want the new files to be located and the program makes the
conversion.
We use it all the time.
Good luck.

Neal,
I have a Kip printer with software that converts .tiff and .plt files to
.pdf
You can also preview the files in any of the supported formats.
I'm not sure, but you may be able to can download and install the software
to convert the files without having a Kip printer.
We have it loaded on each pc in the office.

ARRIS World:
We have a large number of archive PLT files, and are looking for software
that will enable us to view, and eventually convert these file types to PDF
format.
Do any of you have recommendations for either freeware or reasonably priced
software that will enable us to access our archived HPGL2 file types.
I am currently trying to search the web for software, but would appreciate
any collective knowledge from the user base.
I have been able to view them in eZ, but am unable to get output in original
format.
Respectfully.
