[arriscad] Any luck with Polylines?

Jeff,

Unfortunately the portions of a Polyline being entered that are entered
so far cannot be used as a reference point for later vertices (did that
make sense?). The reason is that until you finish entering points,
nothing is entered in the database. That point that you tried to double
reference was not really there yet. This is true of other boundary
entities (Patterns & Zones) as well. You cannot reference a point on a
boundary currently being entered - unless of course the point exists as
a part of some other entity. Knowing this you can make provisions as you
draw.

For boundary entities, you must have one or more closed boundaries
before the Pattern or Zone is placed in the database. For Polylines you
must have completed entering the entire Polyline. This is a change from
pre- 9.4 versions of ARRIS. The reason for the change is that ARRIS now
has more control of entry of the boundary and can avoid database
problems caused by user error. Incomplete boundaries was the number 1
cause of corruption with Patterns (crosshatch) and other boundary
entities. In your example of being guilty of not properly exiting the
routine - with ARRIS 9.4 you had an annoyance of the boundary ghost
display left on where you had to hit the Cancel button to clear it. In
previous versions you would have had a corrupted database.
