[arriscad] Sheets rescaling

Robert,
Databases deal with scale using 3 different variables - Units (i.e.
Feet, inches, millimeters), Increments, and Scale. In order for data
within the project (or the entire office) to relate properly scale-wise,
two of the three variables must be consistent. For this reason it is
highly recommended that you set office standards for increments and
units, and not vary these between databases. If only the scale varies,
then the databases will relate to one another properly. For the US, we
recommend increments of 3072 and units of feet (#udbunt setting of 5).
Once a database is created and there is data present, these two
variables should not be changed.
Dean is basically correct in his post. It looks like the database from
which the viewport came has a unit setting of inches while the rest of
the databases are in feet. I will bet that the database that you cut the
offending viewport from started as a translation. AutoCAD uses a base
unit of inches. The DWG/DXF Translator can handle this conversion
easily, however you have to set it to do so.
In his post Eric advocates never loading viewports from another
database. I disagree as this ability is one of the great strengths of
ARRIS. Different databases can have different scales. If I use
viewports, I create a separate database (full scale) just for the
sheets. All viewports come from a different database in the project. As
long as the basic rule of thumb of having consistent increments and
units is followed, this will never be a problem.
