[arriscad] can independent Patterns subtract? -

Brian, you should be able to place your full pattern over the elevation, then cut out areas for windows. This will leave you with a pattern that would be your cladding area. To do this, you use the Geometry Edit menu, and select ‘append sub-boundary’. You will be prompted to define sub-boundary by rectangle or points … multiple ‘holes’ can be cut in a pattern. Zones work the same. Be sure to exit the command properly, so that the markers are not corrupted.

We use this technique for BOMA area calculations using zones.

Subject: [arriscad] can independent Patterns subtract? -

- if I make a pattern of a building elevation, can Arris subtract parts of that elevation that are represented with other patterns?

- I am looking for a way to get net areas on elevations - i.e. net cladding areas by subtracting window areas
