You might check in the database folder to see if the layer file exists there.

No - that is the first place I looked.

Is there any good reason to keep the autosave feature of Arris? It had a raison d'etre a long time ago, but I don't see any virtue in it now. Saving / backing up should be an integral part of computer-based work, and with flash drives, one can save anywhere, anytime inexpensively.

    It would appear that the layers haven't been added to master.dr but the .ly files still exist in the database.
    Try using the Load Layer button and see if they appear in the layer list for that database. If they do, you
    should be able to reload them.
